The Big Red Grapplers finish in a strong 2nd place
The wrestlers had a good regional tournament overall. They returned to Nashville with all 14 wrestlers having qualified for the state tournament that will take place this upcoming weekend, and earned second place as a team.
A few highlights from the weekend:
- Mac Russ defeated his opponent in the semi finals who he lost to two weeks ago
- Luke Brock defeated an opponent in the consolation finals who he lost to two weeks ago
- Johnothan Moore finished as the region runner-up. The kid he lost to in the finals is nationally ranked and committed to wrestle at UNC next year. Jonathan lost 4–2 in a very tight match.
Up next, we compete in the state championships that will be held at MBA. Wrestling starts at 10 AM on both Friday and Saturday morning! I’ll send out a more detailed schedule later for those interested. Thank you in advance for all those helping at the tournament!
