List of 6 frequently asked questions.

  • Complete an Online Inquiry

You may begin the application process by completing the online inquiry.  Once you have submitted the inquiry, you will be able to access the application through your portal.

All applications and supplemental materials must be submitted by February 1, 2025.
  • Schedule a Visit

A private parent tour may be arranged by contacting the Admission Office at (615) 369-5311 or via e-mail at admission@montgomerybell.edu

Student visits are scheduled once your family has submitted an inquiry form. During his visit your son will have the opportunity to sit in our classes, meet our teachers, and enjoy all that MBA has to offer. Please contact the admissions office to schedule your son's visit.
  • Schedule to take the ISEE Test

The Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) is a requirement for admission. The exam is offered in December, January, and early February at various schools in the Nashville area. MBA will host the ISEE on Saturday, January 25, 2025.

Applicants may register on-line directly through the Educational Records Bureau-ISEE organization.
  • Submit Supporting Documents

In addition to the admissions application, MBA also requires several documents from your son's school and teachers. We suggest that you submit your transcript request form in December or January, so that the form is returned to MBA by the February 1, 2025 deadline. Additionally, we request that your son's current English and math teachers submit recommendations on his behalf. Please download the documents below. If your son's current school does not provide teacher recommendations or evaluations, you will need for him to take the Character Snapshot by SSAT. Please see the information below to learn more.

  • Character Snapshot by SSAT

Why is MBA asking your son to take The Character Skills Snapshot?

Montgomery Bell Academy is more than just a place where your child will learn math and English and science. Certainly the reason you are seeking to enroll your son here is because you are interested in an education that focuses on instilling character values and encouraging personal growth. In fact, MBA’s motto of “Gentleman, Scholar, Athlete,” prioritizes the school’s ethos to emphasize those very values. Similarly, we know that your son is much more than grades and test scores. That is why we are asking him to take The Character Skills Snapshot as part of his application. It will give us richer holistic information about your son, and show us areas where our community can help him grow, thrive, and shine.

While The Character Skills Snapshot is not required for your son’s application this year, we strongly encourage you to include it, and it will be required for any applicants who are unable to obtain teacher evaluations from their current school. The test itself can be taken at home and only takes about 20 to 30 minutes. The Character Skills Snapshot costs $40 to take and process. MBA does have fee waivers available for families who qualify for financial aid. To learn more about qualifying for a fee waiver, please contact Greg Ferrell at MBA at 615-369-5311 or greg.ferrell@montgomerybell.edu

Registering for The Character Skills Snapshot and having your son’s results sent to MBA is easy. Please follow the instructions on the link below:
