JV wins city championships, Freshmen finish 15th
The Big Red had 14 JV and 4 freshmen wrestlers compete in the Mid-TN Grand Championships yesterday. The boys had a great showing, and I am pleased with how much the boys have improved throughout the year. The JV won the tournament out of 55 teams. The freshmen finished 15th out of 53 teams (with only 4 freshmen wrestlers competing). I've attached a document with results for each wrestler.
If you're still reading, I'd like to highlight Will Hardy. If you've worked with Will in any capacity at school, you'd know that he is very quiet (but an awesome kid!). As a freshman, Will struggled to last more than 2 minutes in a wrestling match before losing. He's a junior now and has made incredible improvements the last few years. He won 2 of his 3 matches this weekend, finishing 2nd place in his bracket. He's the type of kid that gives you great perspective as a coach - someone that could easily be overlooked but is perhaps one of the best and most coachable kids in your program.
