At the Father Ryan Invitational this weekend we finished 6th out of 54 teams. It was a tough tournament, featuring returning state champion teams from South Carolina and Kentucky. 8 of the top 10 teams in Tennessee were present, as well as a few other teams from other states. The challenging tournament will no doubt prepare the boys for the upcoming month, toughening up their bodies and minds. Here are a few highlights from the weekend:
- Elias Franks battled hard all weekend, and continues to show incredible improvement. He was 1 match away from placing in the tournament
- down by 6 points with 1 minute left, Hudson Frazier had an incredible come-from-behind win against one of the top state public school wrestlers in his weigh
- After not finishing a match the way he wanted in the semifinals, Max Fisher came through the consolation bracket with a vengeance, pinning his next few opponents, including a returning state runner-up
- Gabe Fisher dominated his way through the tournament, earning the Most Outstanding Wrestler award
