Montgomery Bell Academy is excited to announce the addition of Daniel Childs to our school community as an assistant athletic director and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach.
Mr. Childs has helped local schools like Blackman High School, Siegel High School, and Nolensville High School, among others, achieve offensive excellence. Under his leadership, teams have twice finished atop their respective regions in total offense and have either won their district or advanced to the state semifinals six times. Childs comes to MBA with 18 years of experience as a teacher and coach, the last eight of which have been at Nolensville High School.
In addition to serving as the quarterbacks coach, dean of students, and assistant athletic director, Childs has helped student-athletes across a variety of sports continue competing at the collegiate level—an emphasis he will continue at MBA alongside associate director of college counseling, Jake Myers.
“I think Daniel will be an asset to our school and our program,” said MBA head football coach Chris Chauvin. "I've known Daniel for a long time. He cares deeply about his players, works hard, and is someone I trust and know will be loyal to this school.”
When asked about the future of MBA’s offense, Chauvin highlighted Childs’s adaptability and focus on bringing out the best in both individuals and groups on the field.
“Our beliefs are similar. We want to capitalize on our players’ strengths in a way that positions our team for success,” the first-year Big Red program leader said. “You can love a scheme all you want, but it ultimately comes down to the players on the field and their ability to execute.”
Childs’s long relationship with Coach Chauvin and the opportunity to work closely with MBA students and coaching staff excite him for the season ahead.
“I’m thrilled and honored to join the MBA community,” Childs said. “MBA has a storied history and rich tradition of academics, arts, and athletics. I’m excited to work with the strong staff at MBA, start building relationships with the players, and continue pursuing excellence on the football field. I’m also looking forward to helping student-athletes who want to continue competing in college. I’m extremely thankful for this opportunity to join the MBA family.”
