Big Red Grounds Eagles

The JV Reds were hungry for some competition this Friday after last week’s tough loss to Hillsboro and a cancellation from USN earlier this week.

We welcomed BA on this beautiful afternoon and got after it right away: about 25 seconds into the game, Austin Piggee put his foot through a cross at the back post for a tone-setting opener. The Reds went on to control much of the first half, moving the ball around with some nice passing moves and collective endeavor. The fine work culminated in our second goal, in which Charlie Perkins glided through the midfield to feed Brooks Nowell, who lofted an inch-perfect cross to the back stick, where Owen Rouse rushed in and smashed the ball home with a sweet volley.

While the second half got a bit bogged down, the Reds continued to have passages where they bossed proceedings. Nowell again put BA’s right back in the spin cycle to get free and bring his pass across the face of goal, where Michael “Mike the Bike” Spengler met it first-time for his third of the season. To close out the scoring, Austin Piggee jumped on a bad clearance at the edge of BA’s eighteen and squeezed a shot past the Eagle keeper to complete his brace.

The Reds have a three-game week upcoming and are glad for the win. Final Score: MBA 4-0 BA.
